From November to January, holiday markets are held throughout Paris, but since its beginning in 2008 the Christmas Market on the Champs has been the city’s largest and most popular. The 2014 Christmas Market on the Champs-Elysées features daily sound and light shows and visits from Santa Clause. The major shopping street closes to traffic on December 31st and remains open to the public to celebrate the New Year. Entrance to the Christmas Market on the Champs-Elysées is free.
